One of the reasons it's been rather quiet here on 'Musings' lately is that we've been busy digging to expand our veggie patch. Mr Puppet Lady is very keen to get it done in time to get some lovely veggies going before it's too late. But as it's quite hard work, we've been doing it little and often.
This was the first day of digging, nearly a month ago.
The new patch will be over twice the size of the old one, and we are digging down to a depth of about 12 inches, and trying to get rid of as many stones as we can. We will then improve the soil with organic matter. We have quite a bit of leafmould which we make every year from the leaves of the oak trees surrounding the garden.
Here is one evening's work from a couple of weeks ago:
We are working every evening, after Mr PL finishes work, for as long as the light permits.
It's coming on.
This was about a week ago.
This is the ever-growing pile of stones that we've taken out.
Mr PL does the digging and shovelling, and I remove the stones as he hurls the dirt at me!
Story of my life.
Another evening's work complete.
Well I must go and get my gardening togs on now!
