Monthly Craft Afternoon for OCC

For this month's craft meeting we were delighted to welcome, once again, Teresa Mills, who generously provides inspiration and materials for us each year. Teresa is a local artist specialising in mosaics and you can see her lovely work here. She visits us every year to make items for our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

For this occasion, Teresa provided materials to make little decorated bags and a matching notebook to pop inside. Children love to have a little bag to put their treasured posessions in, and for the children receiving a shoebox, it is lovely for them to have something to keep all their little toys, pencils, sweets and other gifts in.

(The little drawstring bags that Teresa provided came from thecleverbaggers.co.uk . )

So our ladies got busy coming up with ideas to decorate the bags and notebooks, and then got 'stuck in' cutting, arranging and sticking their colourful creations.

The table was laden with colourful bags, felt, craft foam, beads, glue and threads, and everybody here seems to be in deep concentration with their work.

Butterflies and hearts...

... trains...

... bejewelled cats ...

...boats and flowers...

... finished bags with notebooks to match.

At the end of the afternoon we had a colourful collection of bags and notebooks ready to fill some shoeboxes.

Thank you Teresa for giving us such a fun and useful afternoon, and thank you to all the ladies who come each month to our OCC craft afternoons.
