Colourful crafting for OCC

This week was the first get-together of our craft group which makes items for shoeboxes for OCC. This time we made colourful pencil cases out of felt squares. We always try to include some pens and pencils in every shoebox for the children, as this will assist them in their education and learning. (There are some countries where a child is unable to attend school unless they have their own supplies, so this is an important thing for them to have.)  A bright and tidy pencil case to keep them in and carry them to school is therefore a very good idea for the shoeboxes.

Plenty of colourful felt...

...and brightly coloured threads.....

...lots of busy hands....

...and careful stitching.....

....sew on some bright embellishments...

...or maybe embroider some flowers...

... and finish with a fastener.

By the end of the year we will have lots more of these full of pens and pencils to go into our shoeboxes.

One final thing - we will have, thanks to Maggie, have lots more of these too -

- shoeboxes ready covered with bright Christmas paper.

Thank you all for coming, ladies - see you next month!
